There are over 50 OIT family blogs published in our “Research & Learn“ library. They contain the journey of that family in OIT–some are in clinical trials, and others are in private practice with board-certified allergists. All the blogs are fascinating to read, full of wisdom and knowledge unique to that family’s journey.
While the U.S. leads in oral immunotherapy research and private practice OIT, we have some pioneers in other countries. Dr Lee Tak Hong is in Honh Kong and does OIT there. Eagle is one of his patients and started capturing his journey via blog and on YouTube.
ONE EXCERPT FROM THE BLOG:
Eagle’s latest video update on his peanut desensitization process for those who are interested and following.
ENTRY FROM EAGLE’S GO FUND ME ACCOUNT
The photo above is of Eagle about to be released from the hospital after an all night struggle to breathe.
In his follow up visit to the allergy centre in the Hong Kong Sanatorium Hospital we discovered that a study into the desensitisation of patients to their peanut allergies had completed and the centre had taken more than 20 patients thru successfully since the conclusion of the study.
After nearly seeing my son die twice in one week, sitting by his side for hours, and then to have the possibility of freedom from that placed in our grasp filled my heart with hope.
It is hard to understand the impact on quality of life that a life threatening allergy has for those who suffer from them. The constant anxiety and stress of fearing almost everything one eats is crippling.
The cost of the program is substantial however; around US$30,000, more if complications happen to arrise. Please show your support for Eagle by helping to fund his treatment.
Eagle wants to use his budding skills at video blogging to share his experiences with the world so that if the treatment is successful others suffering from similar allergies might also find hope for their situation.
Please watch his video below to hear from him in his own words, and subscribe to his channel on YouTube to get regular updates on the treatment and the progress of his desensitisation.
