Dr. Comer is recognized in the area, practicing at Alabama Allergy & Asthma Center from 1995 to 2008, before pursuing her practice in Washington State. She has a passion for pediatric allergy, asthma, and immunology and enjoys helping patients with allergies and their families to improve their day to day quality of life. She loves talking to her patients and takes time to listen diligently and to understand them as individuals with very specific needs and goals for treatment.

“Safety always comes first….that’s why we have dedicated office space and staff that is only doing OIT.  Even though we are part of a very large, busy allergy practice, our OIT team functions separately and currently sees patients in a satellite office on days that no other patients but OIT are scheduled. This allows for 1:1 care and attention that is needed for all, but especially for the higher risk patients. ”

Outside of the clinic setting, Dr. Comer enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with her family and her two beloved golden retrievers.

OIT Program at Alabama Allergy & Asthma Center

Dr. Comer returns to Alabama Allergy & Asthma Center as the Medical Director of our OIT (Oral Immunotherapy) Program. Until recently, the only answer for food allergies was avoidance of the allergen. She is excited to be offering patients with food allergies, in particular, peanut allergy, an option for a better quality of life. She is committed to offering them the personalized and individualized care they need. Dr. Comer considered offering OIT after several requests from her friends and colleagues to help desensitize their own children. We are fortunate that she has pursued her interest in helping her friends and the food allergy community.

We are currently offering Peanut Oral Immunotherapy, with plans to offer OIT for tree nuts in the future (launch date undetermined) Our current protocol requires patients be at-least 4 years of age to qualify for Peanut OIT.

We are using a hybrid protocol based off the works’ of Dr. Wasserman and Dr. Baker. Using patient safety as our foundation, our goal is to improve patients’ quality of life.
